Sharing a Recipe

I've had requests for the
Apple Pie in a Jar
recipe so here it is:

Apple Pie in a Jar

Peel and slice apples into clean jars. Have syrup ready to pour on as you fill them up. (Option: peel and slice apples into water with lemon juice added to stop the apples from darkening then drain and fill jars)

Syrup:

4 c sugar 1 c cornstarch 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. salt 8 c water

Bring to a boil.

Add 3 tbsp. lemon juice to syrup after removing it from heat. Pour over jars of apples, clean rim, seal and process 20-25 minutes in hot water bath method.

One jar makes one pie.

Fill pastry pie shell and bake at 400ยบ F for 30-35 min.

Thanks Charlie mcFarley! I hope you and the girls have fun at the Cranberry Fest ~ wish I could be there with you; but Mom backed down on the trip and I'm too pooped out and broke to make the trip on my own. Sniff the air for me while you're there ~ Mom always said it REALLY REALLY smells good there! Love ya!!

We also use this to make a quick apple crisp. Dump it in a baking dish and add the crumble topping. It's wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

You are so well stocked for the coming cold season. You must have great food all winter long! What night can I come to dinner?

Oh! You are my superhero! I was hoping that you would post the recipe for this. Just in time for me to get some apples and try it out too! Thank you so much! What size jars did you use?

You have been a busy lady! I applaude you! I have NEVER canned and sure would love to have the confidence to do so.So much work involved and if it does not turn out money and time wasted. I once did canned beans and they exploded months later so we had to throw out and that was the last time I attempted preserving. This sounds easy enough but I don't have the confidence to seal correctly.
Yummo though..who doesn't like apple pie!

Jane Carlson,
If memory serves me right I believe it was about 15 to 20 quart jars.
