Asparagus Soup

Still thinking “spring” here; so I made some ~ Homemade Creamy Asparagus Soup!
I only use recipes as a guide and almost always alter them to my own liking, that’s just the way I roll.  So if you want the recipe there are plenty of them out there – google yourself one!
However; to give you a little guide, I cooked some of the asparagus, onion, celery and seasonings in chicken broth, then I used an immersion blender before adding the roux and milk mixture.  And then because we like to sink our teeth into our food I added some additional chopped fresh asparagus at the end.  Oh My Goodness - did it turn out good!

Here are some pics of our tasty dish!

First Day of Spring

Oh how I’m trying to “Think Spring!”  Although the calendar claims it’s the first day of SPRING; snow continues to fall here in Upper Michigan. We still have at least three feet of snow across our yard. I am attempting to stay positive as I envision a lush garden as others are dealing with drought.  And although St. Patrick’s Day has come and gone, I will continue to ‘think green.’

St. Bernards

I love dogs, most any breed of any size (although I prefer large to small).  A St. Bernard still holds a special place in my heart.  It was the first dog that my deceased husband and I owned.  We had a pup named Cao aka Cuddles.  She was a bundle of furry love that grew into a puddle of drooling love.  But we loved her just the same.
This pup pic that I found online reminds me so much of her.

Please enjoy the link below ~ How would you like to feed this herd?
Better yet, clean up after them? Or wipe their drool?

And this is Sir ~ he came into our lives while living in Alaska.  “Sir” was a Champion whom we’d go to watch at the dog sled weight pulls. The very first time he saw us, he literally “pulled” his owner over to meet us.  She said he’d never done that before.  The next time we went to watch him he did it again. At that point she asked if we would stand on the finish line end of the track as he obviously wasn’t going to move from us at the beginning.  We moved to the finish line and he won getting to us.  After that she would just pass us the leash as she stated “he obviously wants to be with you, and there’s no stopping him.”  He LOVED pulling.
What a great animal. We miss him.

Bird Pics

I know, I know  it doesn’t take much to amuse me!  Have I mentioned how long I’ve had cabin fever???  This harsh winter is really getting to me!  I've resorted to bird watching from the comfort of my cozy living room.

Bird pics were all taken through the windows with screens on.  Although I’ve had this camera for several years, it still amazes me when the screens don’t show up in the shots !

Enjoy!
