Thanking our Military

First and foremost I'd like to thank all of our military for serving on our behalf. Those serving now and those who served in the past. Just a few on my personal list include my present husband, son, father, brother, deceased husband, uncles, cousins, second cousins, inlaws, friends and the list goes on into present day.

My husband Thom served for 20 years in the Air Force. We spent some time compliling some of his momentos into a shadow box and poster, and believe me, this isn't all of it. Because I came into his life after his military days I requested that he write down something about his world wide travels while in the service. He's shared so many stories, but I'd like it put in chronological order of dates and places. I also think it would be great to have it in writing what each of the medals represents. It would be nice to have a record in future years in case our memories begin to fail us.

So although my part of this project is complete, and he put in his 20 years of service (thank you Love); his part of this new "project" has just begun.

That is a great commemoration of his military career. My husband and I served in the military. I loved my time there. It is always nice to see how people appreciate your time. I can't wait to see this when it is done. I did a scrapbook for my husband and his USMC time.

The shadow box was a wonderful idea Cher. I'm sure Thom appreciates your effort in tribute to his served time. He is an awesome fella and we appreciate so much, his loyalty is beyond words for our country. I salute him. Please thank him again for me.

Hear, hear!
My dad was a lifer in the U.S.Air Force.
My mom also served 2 years in the WAVES (in the Navy).
My dad had 8 other brothers who served in the armed forces in many of the wars...all survived the wars to come home. It is amazing and so many men and women devote their lives to their countries selflessly!

Thom ~ won't that woman give you any rest!?? You lived it ~ now she wants it in writing!! OKAY... you're my brother in law ... I can get away with saying that. lol
Cher ~ (and Thom) WONDERFUL ~ HAT's OFF to you both in doing this project. We all know you're losing your memories ... so get writing!! LOVE YA's... and LOVE picking on you too... but most of all ~ you both know how much I LOVE ALL our service men and women who have dedicated their lives to THEIR COUNTRY; as The Retired One has so 'hit the nail on the head' said, "so selflessly".

what a beautiful collection you have paying tribute. Bless your husband for serving. My son, Andrew just came home to Michigan after serving 4 years in the Army (13 months in Iraq)...I am proud of him for his dedication...but also sooooo HAPPY to have him home.
