Roses mid Winter

I'm longing for winter to be over. As much as I love the change of seasons, once January hits I start looking forward to spring. Last year we planted roses and I'm so anxious to see how well they'll handle our winters here in Upper Michigan.  We insulated them with maple leaves in chicken wire cages. So hopefully our following directions will pay off so we can enjoy their beauty year after year. .

Cher: It is wonderful to think the roses will return to their former glory.

Your roses past, how beautiful. They should do just fine Cher, afterall you are by the big lake and you have the benefit of being a whole zone warmer than here in ncentral WI
Love your roses, they smell like raspberries, I'll bet.

Spring is still a long way off, I'm afraid. But hey! You have this lovely rose photo to warm your heart. :)

Yeah I know how you feel, but don't worry spring will come soon and you'll be able to see them bloom again.

I am sure that you will enjoy roses this summer. In the Spring add some ebsom salts to the base about a cup...gives out glorious blossoms!love and light aNNa xox

I know what you mean about January! Although with moose coming through the yard, winters must have been a bit more interesting! I hope your roses do well. I have miniature roses, which handle the winters well here, but I have to admit that I get most of my rose photos from other people's gardens!
