Our Corner of the World

Fall seems to have taken a turn for the worse here in Upper Michigan. We've already seen snow and the cold set in long ago even though we're just now in mid-October. The leaves on our maple tree are green and changing ever so slowly. Leaves are falling off of it but its so much duller than last year due to our cool weather and early frosts.
Our maple tree this year ~
Our Maple tree last year ~
We raked and raked and raked today. Covering the flowers and raised garden beds with leaf mulch before the snows decide to stay. Brr... just too cold for this time of year.

I've noticed too how much more 'blah' the trees looked this fall. I hope it warms up enough or gets dry enough here this weekend so I can get some of the leaves off our yard. Catch ya later gator... Love the new blog look!!

I have to agree that your maple tree last
year was much more vibrant. Never realized
how much that could change year to year.
So did you put a pail on it and collect any sap
for syrup??? I smile every time I come across
pictures of the farm sapping days.... lots
of memories there.
love ya, me
