Stroll With Me

Come take a quick stroll with me around our yard ~
First stop is just one of our many rhubarb plants. Yummy is all I can say! Then there's the little old bird bath with the picket fence backdrop. It is used on a daily basis by several different
types of birds.

And then there's the bluebirds. They've set up housekeeping in a house we built last year. Their fletchlings have been seen coming out this past week. But they still count on Mom and Dad to help feed them. Yummy ~ wax worms are a treat!
This little bunny thinks he's "hiding" behind a wooden box on the patio.

We've seen this porcupine crossing the yard in mid-day on more than one occasion . Too close for comfort in my mind; as you can see our house in the background.

Thanks for the stroll...you sure have the wildlife for still being in the city limits....if I were you, however, I would find some way to dispose of Mr. Porky....he will kill every one of your trees just by chewing on them....we lost a good 40 some last spring thanks to just one of those rascals...nothing we could do except make firewood ...just thought you'd wanna know....a 22 works wonders, but since you're not in the country, you may have to contact the Forestry or DNR to trap and move him...

Great tour as always... and I second the nixing out the porky. He has to go. It will kill off all your trees within a few years time. They eat on the bark all around the tree... it's called girdling the tree. The tree will be fine for a few years then it will die off. Why do you think Pappa didn't like those porcupines on the property?? I would hate to see you lose your pine trees by your house. Like Dar said... call the DNR. I know it's fun to see them and all but they really aren't a good thing to have in your yard.

SAVE PORKY!!!! SAVE PORKY!!!!!

just kiddin! I have to agree with the gals,
they're destructive. And if you get too close,
painful.

Love the pics, keep them coming.
love ya's - miss ya's - me

Well, I can truthfully say that I thoroughly enjoyed my stroll through your yard. :)

I don't think I ever met anyone who had a porcupine hanging out in their yard. lol I also didn't know porcupines could climb. ;)
I learned quite a bit from reading your comments, I didn't know porcupines were destructive critters. Very interesting. I love learning new stuff.

Thanks for sharing these Lovely pictures. The comfort and peace of Mother Nature is so soothing.

Wishing you a pleasant and relaxing weekend!

Great pictures! I love the shot of the fawn. I remember that beautiful stone you had painted and had by your fireplace down here. By the way - that was our little pond on my blog. Ten thousand inches of rain will eventually fill anything!

Hi Cher - nice to meet you! :) Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting. The pink iris is a real surprise; we've only had the purple ones coming up, so seeing the appearance of the pink one was a real treat. :) It sure looks like you have some interesting stuff going on at your place, too; how I would love to live closer to the woods.... You are really very fortunate to have so much space...

Have a great day, and thanks so much again for dropping by. :)
