Thanks Cher. I have heard of the Fitzgerald, but this is the first time I have ever taken the time to read. Thanks for awakening a vital piece of history.

Oh ... I just got the goose bumps. I remember when this happened and it truly was a sad sad day. I was just visiting the link and I remember hearing that radio broadcast between Capt. Anderson and the coast guard on the television about losing the contact with the Fitzgerald. It truly was a tragedy. The families of those brave souls are in my prayers.

Living within about 40 minutes of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and the point where the Fitz sank, I always feel a sadness this time of year about it. Now, that we spend winters away, it seems odd when I think about the Fitz in November.
